Hair Loss

During a traditional hair transplant procedure, the donor hairs used for transplant are removed in a strip from the side and back of the head. This leaves an unsightly ring of baldness around the scalp that you definitely don’t want. The ARTAS procedure changes all of that by strategically removing donor hairs while still preserving the overall appearance of the head. ARTAS vs Handheld

Procedures done throughout the world are manual handheld FUE procedures, like a NeoGraft device. A manual handheld FUE hair transplant is a procedure that is done by a physician using a handheld device to extract the individual hair follicles. Much of the success of this form of procedure is entire as a result of the efficiency and experience of the Physician, to ensure that harvesting happens at a natural distance apart and that the hair follicle does not get transected during harvesting. Perfectly extracting 500 – 3,000 follicles by hand takes a steady hand and a tremendous amount of time. Grafts dissected by the handheld Neograft device may result in skinny and exposed grafts vulnerable to handling damage and ‘drying out’ due to their vacuum method of extraction. Using the Neograft device the spacing of harvest sites must be guessed visually by the operator, with non-robotic devices there is simply no mapping, calculations or automatic safeguards to track previous dissection sites.

The location and characteristics of each follicular unit are tracked in real time during the procedure with updates 60 times per second. The high-definition interface provides multiple views of the treatment areas, allowing our technicians to adjust parameters without interrupting the procedure. During site making, terminal hairs are avoided, this minimises the risk of trauma to the existing hairs.

Most patients experience mild pain after hair transplantation. If discomfort does occur, it usually can be controlled with pain relievers. You may use baby shampoo or other mild shampoo on your hair the first day following your procedure, using a low-pressure shower head on the site. 

With fantastic results after a few months, the transplanted hair will begin to grow in its new location. Your newly transplanted hair, like the rest of your hair will grow steadily over time. After around six months, you will start to notice significant growth. The hair will continue to grow in the treated balding areas over the coming months.
