Botox is a purified toxin that when injected into the muscle stops it from contracting, thereby reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Used for over 16 years, Botox is a proven and safe treatment which helps prevent wrinkle prevention temporarily.
Botox is used for treating wrinkles in both men and women. It involves the injection of Botulinum Toxin (Botox) protein into specific muscles on the face through the use of very fine needles. The Botox protein then paralyses the small muscles in the area it has been injected into, preventing wrinkle formation.
The Botox treatment has been around for 16 years and is most commonly used to treat lines on the face including crow’s feet, forehead lines and lipstick bleed lines (when combined with dermal fillers). It is considered to be a very safe treatment with mild discomfort and no scarring, although every patients response will be different.
What is in a Botox Injection?
Botox is a protein which is made from the Botulinum Toxin protein which is produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. Although it is classed as a toxin, it has both cosmetic and medical benefits when used in small doses – such as those used here at KLNIK. It is a naturally occurring bacteria which can temporarily paralyse muscles to help reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Botox work?
Botox (Botulism Toxin) is injected into targeted areas using an ultra-fine needle. It blocks the nerve signals needed for the muscles to contract in these areas, preventing them from causing expression lines and wrinkles. Once injected Botox relaxes the muscles and decreases their range of movement, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
What areas of the face can Botox be used on?
Botox can be used to treat areas where lines and wrinkles tend to appear, such as the forehead, around the eyes, and in the lip area. It is also sometimes used to soften dimpling in the chin area, or for a jaw slimming effect.
Are Botox injections painful?
Botox injections are quick and tend to cause clients minimal discomfort, and they require no anaesthesia or recovery time. A lot of our clients, in fact, get Botox injections during their lunch break and then go right back to work.
How soon will I see results after a Botox injection?
As with every treatment, each patient will see results at a different rate. However, we would normally expect you to start to see results after 3 to 5 days, with the final effects taking up to 2 weeks to appear.
How long does Botox last?
The results of a Botox injection tend to last between 3 to 5 months, with some client’s choosing to prolong the length of their results by having top-up treatments every 3 to 4 months.
